The members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church are committed to supporting people in our local community as well as nationally and internationally.  On the second and third Sundays of every month the open plate collection is given to a nonprofit organization.  One of the functions of the Outreach Committee is to choose the organizations the loose plate offering will support.  In 2011 the following organizations chosen were St. Francis Center, Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD), National Association for Mental Illness (NAMI), Central Asia Institute, Mommy Rocks, Habitat for Humanity, The Action Center (formerly the Jeffco Action Center), Second Wind Fund of Metro Denver, Colorado Haiti Project, Shelter Box USA, Holy Joe’s.  In addition to these organizations we support with our budget First Wednesdays at St. Paul’s (the monthly community meal), Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), Colorado Interfaith Power and Light (COIPL), the Parish Resource Center and other special requests.
It is the Outreach Committee’s desire to offer other special events several times per year for people to participate in such as National Night Out, a Habitat for Humanity build, and the Holiday Bazaar.  In the past few years the Outreach Committee’s focus has been on how to become more involved in the community in which we “live” which has led to a partnership with the Eiber Neighborhood Association.  At present the Outreach Committee is composed of a group of dedicated, compassionate and energetic people who are concerned about the community in which we are located as well as the world in which we live.

To find out ways you can become involved please contact The Reverend Charlotte Shepic at Deacon@StPaulsLakewood.org.
